Why is BLD BRO Daily the best product for bald men?

We are so excited to finally tell you what we have been up to for the last year.
This short blog will go into how & why BLD BRO mark 1 was created, and what has been done to improve it for the re-launch this year.
When we were developing the formula for BLD BRO Daily back in 2020 we knew we wanted to create the ultimate all-in-one solution for bald men like us.
It would have been SOOO much easier (and cheaper) to have used an existing formula and just stick our label on the front of the bottle, but we wanted to create something from scratch.
Something that was completely unique and designed specifically for bald people.
We spoke to dozens of companies from around the world who were either not able or willing to develop a new product, did not understand our vision or had ridiculously high minimum order quantities.
We finally found a manufacturing company that had an incredible reputation and that would work with smaller brands if they believed in the company.
Below is the list of problems that we identified:
Problems:
- Our heads can easily get sunburned but regular sun cream is oily and greasy.
- We need to moisturise daily but most moisturisers do not contain SPF.
- Many of these creams and sprays take ages to absorb into the skin.
- None of the products we have tried created a lasting matte effect.
- Many of the current products are over-scented or smell like sun cream.
- Most cosmetic packaging is not very sustainable or environmentally friendly.
- There wasn't a brand that truly represents us as bald people
And below is a list of our requirements:
Needs to:
- be UVB/UVA protective (at least SPF 30).
- moisturise and hydrate the skin.
- be quick to absorb.
- create a lasting matte effect and reduce unwanted shine.
- have an amazing natural and subtle smell that is not overpowering.
- to be in the most sustainable packaging possible.
- not leave the skin looking oily or greasy.
If you were to ask the manufacturer what we were like to work with they would probably say that we were divas. I would say that we are perfectionists!
We rejected sample after sample. Too runny, too thick, too greasy, too long to absorb, too smelly, wrong smell, wrong colour etc.
Then, one summer's day while we were all at Tariq’s house we received the formula. The consistency was perfect, a clear gel that absorbed in seconds.
With a light citrus fragrance it felt fresh and clean on the skin. It hydrated our scalps without feeling oily and instantly took away any shine and worked perfectly as an SPF.

We launched on June 1st 2022 and had an incredible response.
Richard was in charge of packaging and writing notes to all of our legendary BLD BROs, taking over his nan’s house and frantically packing in her spare room!
We had no idea that so many of you wanted the same thing that we did, and the reviews and feedback we received were unbelievable.
What Next?
We were not expecting to sell out as fast as we did which was amazing, but also presented us with new problems:
- Some reported issues with the pump bottles not working correctly.
- The plastic was not recyclable.
- The label on the bottle picked up dirt easily.
- The ingredients had DOUBLED in price due to global economic issues.
- Some customers felt that 50ml was too small and wanted more.
We faced a difficult decision. Should we;
A) Re-stock the original product, keep it in stock and increase the price to reflect the increased costs? (Saving huge amounts of time and money.)
OR
B) Go out of stock, redevelop and redesign the packaging, to a more user-friendly and eco-friendly solution. Increase the size of the product whilst keeping the cost low for our loyal customers.
We chose B.
Months of research concluded that the most eco-friendly solution for our packaging was aluminium.
Unlike plastic, aluminium can be infinitely recycled and 75% of the aluminium that has ever been mined is still in use today.
Not only did we love this but the aluminium looked and felt badass!
This is how we roll
To maximise the efficiency of the new packaging, we also developed a BLD BRO Key that rolls it down, squeezing every last drop of product from the tube.
By increasing the size to 75ml we have managed to make the cost to our customers almost 20% cheaper per ml than before!
We also wanted to offer a further price reduction for our repeat customers to say thanks for their continued support.
So we created a subscription model with 1 or 2-month delivery and up to a further 20% off the price.
Our mission is to help bald people feel confident and happy in their own skin and with your help, we can make that happen.
